Should I change my MOS to utilize my BS in Psychology?
I know this question is very confusing, and I’m asking a lot from you guys to answer, so I want to thank you ahead of time. My situation is this: I am currently a 21W (Carpentry Masonry Specialist) In the U.S. Army reserves. I have been in since May 25th, 2008. I have never been deployed. I am in good standing, no U’s, etc. I want to do something more concurrent with my civilian career and skill set. I am about a semester away from graduating with a BS in Psychology with a minor in Christian Counseling. Because of this I have considered becoming an officer. Do they have officer MOS like the enlisted 37F Psy Op specialist? If I went officer how much longer would I have to be In for? At this point in my military career I don’t want to extend any, I just want to make the most of the rest of my time in. So I either want to re-class enlisted and spend my last few years in an MOS that I enjoy and am proficient in, or go officer and do the same thing with more money/respect(Relatively I know, butter bars receive little respect. But I’m sick of being a useless lower enlisted that has no say in anything and gets treated like everyone else when I’m not like everyone else). So any guidance would be very helpful. Thank you very much.
