Masonry nails. Can I use them on those shiny common red bricks?

they are classB engineering bricks ...masonry nails will not go in to this brick without it being fired from a gun ...you need a size 7 masonry drill ..on hammer ..i drill these every week ..don't have a problem ...are you sure the drill is rotating forward ?..i have had it in reverse myself ..drill a small pilot hole first
